Returning at the end of the charter

On longer charters, itís easy to lose track of time, so please double check your return dates and be back at our docks and off boat before the time specified at the beginning of your charter.

Be sure to arrive back in sufficient time to complete the following tasks which normally take about two hours for several people.

You are welcome to return to Cassiopeia's slip and tie up at any time during your charter and to come and go from Port Sidney as you wish.  Consult the dock staff for suggestions.

When you return at the end of your charter, please do the following:

o   refuel while returning if possible.  Tsehum Harbour, just north of Sidney has the nearest fuel docks and best prices.  Click here for detailed refuelling advice.
Note: At Tsehum, the Van Isle Marina fuel dock is closest to Sidney, and easy to access. The entrance to North Saanich Marina, further in the same bay is narrow and very shallow at low tide.  Both facilities are excellent.

o   phone in for last minute instructions and help handing lines if required.

o   at Port Sidney Marina, pull into the same slip you came out of (C22) unless directed otherwise by dock staff.  Click on image at right for details.

o   furl sails and coil and hang all running rigging

o   replace enclosure canvas and instrument covers

o   remove your personal belongings, provisions, and garbage

o   wash dishes, wipe down the interior and clean the deck as required

o   stow the dinghy on the foredeck unless instructed otherwise -- ask

o   plug in to shore power, and turn on the 120 V AC panel switches.

o   plug in and turn on an electric heater if appropriate

o   check the bilge - the automatic bilge pump is hard wired Ė bilges should be dry on this boat

o   leave keys on or in the chart table

o   return reports of the vesselís performance and any suggestions to the Cooper Boating staff member checking you in

One of our dock staff will be on hand to welcome you and obtain the trip report from you.

Please note that there may be hourly charges if you prefer that we do any or all of the above tasks.

While we do look over the boat when you return and sign out, a complete check-in involves cleaning, inspection and inventory, as well as a dive report. This takes time and cannot be completed while youíre at the dock

This is a summary. Here is the current official Cooper Boating Policy Document
